Position: Engineering Manager (Globalisation Squad) (f/x/m)
Location: Berlin, Germany (Hybrid – 3 office days per week)
Start date: Q1 2026

We’re looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead our Globalisation Squad, a cross-functional team shaping the foundations of the Telus Health app as it scales across regions, platforms, and products.

This squad sits at the intersection of mobile, backend, and platform architecture, ensuring our app is modular, reliable, secure, and ready for global growth. Your work will directly impact how millions of users experience wellbeing — today and in the future.

You’ll lead a group of mobile and backend engineers, working closely with Product, Design, Data & AI, and partnering across engineering, cybersecurity, legal, and compliance to deliver a truly global-ready platform.

Your mission is to build, evolve, and scale the technical backbone of the Telus Health app — making it robust, extensible, and fit for AI-powered innovation, while growing a strong culture of engineering leadership and craftsmanship.

You’ll own the app’s technical direction end-to-end: from architecture and delivery quality, to release reliability, developer experience, and long-term platform strategy.

Hybrid role: 3 days per week in-office

How you will spend your time:
  • Lead, coach, and inspire a team of engineers across mobile and backend to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data & AI to ship user-facing experiences that drive engagement, retention, and measurable wellbeing outcomes.
  • Own the technical strategy and execution for the app, including architecture decisions, code standards, CI/CD pipelines, and release reliability.
  • Build a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, and experimentation, where engineers feel empowered to propose ideas and own outcomes.
  • Strengthen the team’s delivery system and velocity through better tooling, automation, and effective collaboration rituals.
  • Mentor engineers, supporting both technical excellence and career growth.
  • Contribute to the long-term platform strategy, helping shape the next generation of Telus Health’s app architecture — AI-powered, modular, and global-ready.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering Managers and our Tech Lead to raise the bar for engineering culture, documentation, and technical leadership across Telus Health.
  • Work closely with Cybersecurity, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure secure, compliant, and globally scalable solutions.
What you should bring to the table:
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 1+ year in an engineering leadership role (Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or Tech Lead).
  • A strong technical engineering background, ideally across native mobile (iOS/Android) and backend & cloud systems (we use Java, Spring Boot, Python, and AWS).
  • Proven ability to lead teams through rapid iteration and scaling phases, ideally in consumer tech, SaaS, or health tech.
  • Experience implementing clean architecture, modular codebases, and CI/CD automation.
  • A track record of shipping high-quality applications with measurable user impact.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills — you thrive in cross-functional product trios and lead with clarity and empathy.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement, with a deep care for performance, maintainability, and learning.
  • Fluent English (German is a plus).

    Nice to have
  • Experience with multi-region deployments (we use AWS).
  • Experience collaborating with Cybersecurity, Legal, or Compliance teams.
  • A strong interest and readiness to further grow your leadership skills and impact beyond pure technical execution.
